I do wish MAC had made the square base magnetic or metal-backed/magnet-friendly – the original quad has a metal base – so that I could use it for non-circular, smaller or larger pans.
I love its chic minimalist feel and the firm snap of the magnetic cover. Although it has a clear lid like the original, this new palette is more aesthetically-pleasing with its clean lines and shiny black plastic material. The alternating cut-outs below the pan wells are rimmed with metal to attract the magnets beneath MAC eyeshadow pan refills, securing them in the round spaces. I have several MAC 4-pan palettes but the sleek design of this new version (S$9) caught my eye when I visited the standalone MAC Pro store at Ngee Ann City yesterday.Ī seemingly-improved version of the original, this palette has an insert that can be easily removed.
